Mission Statement

The mission of Team Traverse is to organize and support elite endurance athletes who share similar interests of ultra trail running, camaraderie, the outdoors, travel, competition, and philanthropic endeavours. In essence, “running for a reason.”

How it all Started

Brad Quinn finishing Cactus Rose 100 mile trail race; 27 hours after start. 7th place overall.

Traverse Trail Running Inc. was started by Brad & Nyla Quinn in 2006 for the Capt’n Kar’l’s Trail Race, the “All-Nighter. The “All-Nighter” was a 6 hour and 12-hour night ultramarathon held in honor of Nyla’s late father, (Capt’n) Karl, who passed away from cancer in 2006. The race supported the American Cancer Society in its first year, and went on to include other philanthropic causes such as Cuisine for Healing.

Since 2008, Traverse Trail Running has formed a partnership with Tejas Trails. The “All Nighter” has now been expanded to the Capt’n Karl’s Endurance Series (The Lake”, “The Falls” and “The Shoe”) and modified from a 6 and 12 hour format to 10k,30k, and 60k distances. The races are considered part of the Tejas Trails Series of races and are held in the Texas Hill Country.

In 2008 Brad & Nyla formed Team Traverse with the goal of developing a competitive trail running team with a philanthropic cause. Team runners are picked not only for their running abilities, but for their desire to embrace the team motto “running for a reason.” Team runners raise money for humanitarian causes by racing or volunteering in events all over the world.

Brad and Nyla are both occupational therapists and currently  live in the Texas Hill Country with their four children. They travel yearly to Nicaragua as a family to work with Ultramaraton Fuego y Agua, a cause affiliated with Traverse Trail Running.
